When you look at hunter gatherers or primitive people, you should see people with skills and knowledge we do not have. These are people who can make everything themselves. Frequently they have a very high level of knowledge of their environment that takes a life time to achieve. These people are not stupid- far from it This is something that (especially) highly educated people often seem incapable of understanding, even when giving it their most sincere effort. I include millions of people, not strictly hunters and gatherers, who, nevertheless, have a different type of intelligence than the type that is rewarded by the dominant culture. We pass them on the street every day with nary a glance. I am glad you see this; It is rare to meet anyone who truly can say it and believe it. When the world infrastructure collapses in a cataclysm--it may be us crawling to the man with the tin cup...
