I don't see how it can mean the old bands because they say "if KT and SKT launch the MC1X
service". Haven't they already launched MC1x in the narrowband? Why condition the risk on something that has already happened? Of course, it could just be some artifact of the translation.

mightylakers: For a long time it has seemed that the 1x progression through 1xEV will be sufficient for most data requirements, particularly if the Samsung "improvements" are incorporated, therefore rendering WCDMA moot as necessary at all except where there are political or other reasons why the use of CDMA 2000 in any form is not going to be permitted.

KDDI in Japan will be a very interesting case to watch.

What will KDDI install in new spectrum, since it can upgrade in current spectrum?

Will KDDI use 3x in its new spectrum and 1x upgrades through 1xEV in old?

Or will KDDI start out with some version of 1x in new spectrum in order to get started there asap, with a plan to move to 3x there when most advantageous?

Note: Seems like there has been a deafening silence re: 3x.

Is 3x alive and well?

Best.
