John

The State of CA is now proposing to buy the power grid (the ruse is we must "protect" ourselves against the greedy) and of course will have to maintain it. There is talke that they will pay $7 billion for a system valued at $4.5 billion. We'll see. Typical over-reaching mentality and welcome back to socialism, we tried de-regulation (NOT) and it didn't work. If Gray Davis emerges from this with any political capital I'll be surprised, but then we live in a pretty "nutty" place.

Historically recessions last longer in CA and those large energy bills are going to assault the poor and piss off big business. Slipping from their grasp, yes.

If I was Dubya, I'd tell California to go piss up a rope. Screw em, they didn't vote for us. Then I'd entice Silicon Valley companies to relocate to Silicon Hills.
