"My only response is that the money ain't in telecom it's in datacom. Voice is headed towards free (with oh so many things). "

Graziella,

If you re-read my post a little more closely I clearly state that as of 2000, 90% of all revenues in telecom/datacom were on the voice side. The data side is parasitizing the money machine that voice has been and offers none of the fabulous profitablity that voice has had over the past decades. It offers profitless prosperity, which is anathema to the bondsman. When the bondsman is leery, the cash does not flow into the capital markets and the system collapses. This is the situation today.

Let me ask you a hypothetical. If voice is free, is it any longer a business that should be invested in? Investors are looking for a return on investment. That's hard to find when your product is given away.

Best, Ray :)
