How about Sherritt (T.S). It pays 9% plus it's a solid company and way undervalued.

It's funny to look back at my last post here where I said I was considering buying SWP.B at $9.00. Good thing I didn't!

Two issues I've been happy with are
Ivaco Preferred - IVA.PR.I yield approx 10%
Enervest Trust units - EIT.UN yield approx. 12%

But I believe I touted LUS.UN in an upstream post. This company removed it's dividend until they restructure their debt load. :-(

I've been too bust bottom fishing ( I hope) to look for the high yield issues.

Take it easy,
Ger

GP can you tell me what the assets are behind YLD (Split Yield Corp)?

I am currently looking to divest some assets into solid dividend paying co's. Have some REITS am avoiding Oil & Gas Trusts because I am concerned they are at the top and could come off quite a bit.

Anyone have any thoughts on other solid pref shares, debentures or such with yields in the >7% range other than the ones already mentioned this past month here..

Presently own
Transcanada Pipe 4.82%
Noranda 5.13%
Brascan 3.91%
Trilon 5.04%
Riocan 10.70%
HR.units 9.56%
Newcastle (NMN.un) (bounces around but over 18% last 4 qtrs)
Centrefund Convertible DB (c&b series) approx. 11%
Gulf Canada Prefs 7.46%
Bank of Montreal 2.96%
TD bank 2.83%

Thinking about
BCE inc 3.33% (down possibly recovery plus dividend)
LB (Laurentian bank) 3.81% high yield for bank possible takeover candidate
