Broadband Fixed Wireless are Wireless Local Loop (DECT, PHS and such) recycled for the taking advantage of the the Internet. Its competing technology is ADSL and not 3G.

After seeing what the ILEC's and the vendors did with WLL I don't think Broadband Fixed Wireless stand any chance in the market out there.

Please remember that 3G reuses infrastructure. Broadband fixed Wireless builds greenfield. And the this is what we -all of us must burn into our brains if we have to understand this very well: Voice is the killing application. That's because it can pe ported from 2G to 3G and most important of all From fixed to mobile.

When telephone switches start going to the scrap heap, it will be the infrastructure that provides 3G that will take over.

UMTS stands for Universal Mobile Telecommunications Standard. They call it UNIVERSAL for nothing. It is the one that will replace it all. I am not saying it will happen overnight. It can be even that there will be some fine tuning along the way (just look to how much money will be on the table to see why there will be fine tuning). But that's the way the arrow of time is point to.
