John: a new & already worn-out phrase: "poor visibility". Weather forecasting jargon may be the next fad among CEO's and analysts. Makes them sound like they know what they're talking about, when what they're actually saying is their clueless about future sales prospects.

How foolish one would sound by saying in a honest and forthright manner: "We are not certain of near term earnings or revs" ?

It's much easier to sound quasi-scientific like some chief said last night in a cc:
"I wish I could provide more granularity" but "visibility has not been this opaque".

How astute ! How measured ! How informative !

This man knows how to say he knows nothing and sound smart saying it.
