This is more like a stowaway or a passenger that starts a mutiny if you are going to use the boat analogy. Hmmm, what are the rules in International waters for stowaways (or even fare-paying passengers or crew) who want to eat more than their allocated food and/or increase their number against the captain's will? Isn't that called mutiny, hijacking or piracy? I think you get to shoot them, don't you?

I do not consider the US Supreme Court to be infallible.

Do you consider your own reasoning infallible? The boat story is a new one, but I think SC cases tend to be a lot more closely argued.

but if I offered you a ride I would not have the right to insist that you get off immediately once we reached deep shark infested waters

Hmmm...if you go for a ride with someone on their boat, and that someone displays behaviour that indicates an altered intention, or a change in rationality such that you believe your safety is being compromised--you would be entitled to take the measures that to you seemed justified by the exact circumstances.

As a separate person from that someone-- a person with independent interests both in mind and body--you would not need to have your interests calculated or exercised by that someone--but could exercise your own unique reason, your own force of will, and your own moral judgement, in order to effect the necessary actions to promote your safety.
