I don't care who the resultant child would be. That's just stupid. If Madame Curie's mother wanted to have an abortion that's her choice. There will always be brilliant people- and even more really stupid people- so I don't think we need to worry about a dearth of people. My goodness you would think we were living on an underpopulated planet, wouldn't you?

Uh, I'd be saving her from a painful death due to her ignorance in the handling of radioactive compounds??!!

That's just dumb. Radioactivity would have been discovered by someone else eventually. Or maybe not. If not, then WWII would have never gone nuclear (we wouldn't have the "the Germans were working on it too" argument), there'd be no threat by the Soviet Union and Patton could have gone in and overthrown Stalin. Maybe that'd have happened. All would be wonderful!!!
