And you don't think it would be wise to educate people about what it takes to be a good parent and help them make their choice about becoming pregnant based on an understanding of how successful and satisfied they will likely be in that role as opposed to other roles they might choose in life?

I never said that. I did say I don't think someone should runtinely make rude comments to people who you suspect might fall just a bit short of being the perfect parent if they tell you that are having a kid or thinking about having one. If a married couple in their late twenties tells you they are having a kid and the only reason that you think they shouldn't be parents is that they don't have tons of savings ("Gee, you guys must be doing well. We only have about $75K left in savings since we bought our new house so we're going to have to wait for a while.")
or some other point of similar importance then I don't see any point in trying to discourage them. If however a 14 year old drug addict expressed the idea "you know it would be nice to get pregnant and have a baby", feel free to let her have both barrells as you try to discourage her.

For minor issues which might let some parents be less successful or satisfied - Well no one is ever going to be
the perfect parent and even with someone you know well you probably don't know if the issue will really be a
problem. For major issues that make someone totally unsuited to be a parent (like the 14 year old drug addict)
then things are a lot clearer.
