Update from Sun conference call:-- The 10-13% yr/yr revenue guidance for the Mar qtr produces an estimate range of $4.41-4.53 bln, well below the consensus of $5.07 bln, and down 12-14% sequentially from the Dec qtr.

Wonder how Intel based servers are selling this quarter. Haven't heard any horrible news from Compaq, Dell, etc. Then again, Sun may not have come out with this news yet, except for the fact that they had this CC scheduled from awhile back. Maybe Intel based servers are finally eating into Sun's biz where it hurts. Too early to tell, but Sun's servers are 2 - 3+ times more expensive on a price/performance basis, and no more reliable as we found out recently with the no-ECC thing. Wait and see what Compaq has to say down the road. Compaq more than Dell because they span the entire Sun line WRT processing power, and then some (not all Intel based of course).

Just muttering.

Tony

re:AMD must mean more than that
?
re:AMD is outselling Intel at retail
not yet but the difference is that this time around intel is outselling amd at lower end systems and amd is winning at high end
re:Do you respect any of Intel's accomplishments
plenty of respect for accomplishments and technology here. I view Intel's stock price as not attractive relative to amd and that is not the same as to say that I do not have respect for Intel.
