Crow,

Hope you & Lsh don't mind me butting in here (wasn't going to) but when it came to the conch fritters I just had to reply ;-)

My Dad owned a well known marina on the east coast of FL for 20+ yrs, Bill's Sailfish Marina, on Palm Beach Shores (Singer Is.), Palm Bch county. Its now called the Sailfish Marina. I grew up around the place, great life as a kid. As a kid, an old charter boat captain, Johnnie Thomas (a story in himself) taught me the secrets of throwing a castnet (one of the ways he fed his family during the depression). Came in handy later as during the mullet run, in Oct's we would catch, de-bone, brine and freeze, over 2-3K dozen for trolling baits.

The conch, every time a charter boat would have a trip to the Bahama's, we would ask the captains to bring back some conch (I've never had better conch chowder than that made by my Mother). Every time I visit FL I go to a little restaurant in Jupiter called Schooner's - best cracked conch in the state. BTW, conch is also good raw - taste like coconut.

Dad passed on this summer, alot of the people at the funeral asked me about the website I was going to do on the marina (my Mother kept an album with alot of pictures). Maybe I'll just put up a bunch of the pictures to begin with.
If I do, you want me to let you know?

Hope I'm not intruding or being too pretentious,
Bill/WA
