I wasn't sure what I thought about it so I was fishing for other opinions. You mention both ethics and utility. I'm not sure I can make a distinction. No one would be worse off during this trial than they would be without it. Some would be better off. That's utility. I don't know how it could be ethical to deprive those who would benefit from the trial on the basis of uneven benefit. It's not like giving everyone the drug is an feasible alternative. I'd like to hear more opinions. Karen
