Never thought we'd see this sort of grinding bear. Truth is I've been mostly in cash equivalents since the middle of last year and so I haven't been watching the market very much recently.

If you were expecting a big sharp crash rather than a slow grinding bear, don't give up. It will still happen.

At this point, while I do think the Nasdaq has some more decline in it, the real bloodshed will be seen in the S&P and Dow indices.

Keep your crash helmets on!

Dave

Re: "My intuition is that we've not seen the bottom until we see a selling climax, whereas this has been a very orderly year-long downtrend, which still seems to be intact."

There will be no climatic bottom as the popular belief has been reported by the media to those whom believe. The bottom is nigh, bet on it. In fact, look for two items to turn the tide during the V shaped bottom about to occur during the process the next few days and, possibly weeks ahead:

* Appellate review to remand or dismiss DOJ vs MS - reversing the cause of the markets decline, by definition of some.

* AG surprising the market, which will reverse the same type of sentiment which he attempted to reverse while the market ignored his actions while increasing rates, for some time - which will track nicely in whatever it takes to do so; including cushioning the asterisk above, just in case.

Some words of wisdom for those who have dry powder - still with fear. FWIW - technical chaps are those of whom which are behind data entry point.
