That's a tough call, swiss. I think it's because both TLC and Bob had the good sense to have second thoughts. Anybody and everybody on the site can do that. As when one says "Excuse me" after burping in public, it's called "good manners". Alas, not everybody has them. Having read the post question before its deletion, I'd observe that this issue has very little to do with McCarthyism. Please don't fart at the table when you're a guest at a dinner party. If you must, however, don't mistake people's avoidance of your proximity as "McCarthyism".

perhaps he and TLC could rewrite SI TOU to read

I didn't see TLC's post, but know for a fact that mine didn't violate any rules. I was worried about it being taken the wrong way, so I asked that it be deleted.

could anyone imagine this sort of censorship

Hope you're not misguided enough to take the next step and make this a "First Amendment" issue.

The rules governing one's conduct in this establishment are posted quite plainly at the entrance. In fact, you had to press the "I Agree" button to gain access in the first place. The idea being that if you don't like the rules, lack the mental capacity to understand them well enough to comply, or are simply unwilling to comply, you just go elsewhere. Simple.

Most reasonable people won't see a sign on a restaurant reading "No shoes, no shirt, no service", then go in buck-naked and have a hissy-fit when they're bodily thrown out of the place.

You have the right to go around barefoot as much as you want. But any business or individual has the right to deny you barefoot entry. In much the same way a website can deny you your "right" to make vulgar fellatio comments to one of its female members (which is what you did, lest you try to represent it otherwise as you're inclined to do).

Let me know if I need to break it down more than that.

Regards,

(Bob)

You might consider reviewing your whole approach to discussion ... as it happens, i was lurking the Dubya thread and posting a bit before his daddy's judges selected him as head honcho of the planet, and several of the political stances you claim to espouse i share quite fully - specifically in my case a deep fear of republican brutality directed at latinoamericanos in the Reagan/Nixon manner ... no question i breath easier with a democratic president in power, as do so many latina mothers who would rather their little kids don't get blown up or tortured at the hands of anyone, much less the CIA and its feudally-minded allies.

But your input stunk, man .... poor style, no class, you discredit your side ... now Neocon, he promotes the republicans, and demonstrates intelligence and respect for the principles of debate in so doing .... him i would drink beer with .... you, no .. fwiw

That one just cracked me up...for a real chuckle, check some of the posts which, if you search, tell you of "Nasdaq to 2000!!!, run for the hills!!", as of just a few short month ago (I must have been out that day!)...gotta love the audit trail SI keeps and always makes me wonder how some folks believe in some self appointed cyber gurus that if they met in person, wouldn't give em the time of day...folks have a very short term memory for what a group of losers the gurus of yesteryears (e.g., TokyoJoe, Kim, A, etc) are and where they are now.
Gee, let's play Who Wants to be a Millionaire:

Who said: "I predicted the Spring demise of the markets and shared this with my close circle of friends and my VC clients...sorry you poor bastards on my board that I advised and counselled each and every day did not get the same early warning I gave them, but then again how else could I and my friends dump shares...er, I mean, I was VERY busy with new IPO offerings and clients!"

Answer:a) Shalin (aka StockOperator or Mr NAZ 2K), b) Brandon (aka Mogul or Mr Self-Serving), c) Freddie (the only respectable name here) d) West (the original naysayer) or e) the queen of P&D, Kim Lee.

Here's a hint:
