Is it a Bear Market yet?
Considering time elapsed, extent of decline in S&P and the Nasdaq, the past 11 months should be called a Bear Market. More important for our collective wallets is the future Market course. Bear Markets and economic contractions and recessions have historically created the best opportunities for intermediate and long-term Market gains. With the high amount of bearishness being registered in the published sentiment measures I follow (I don't use the Investors Intelligence survey any longer.), as well as my own proprietary sentiment indicators, I believe we're near a major low both in time and price level.
