She could have gone to the desert to live with Lo. After all, that is what he wished for. I thought the idea of jumping off the mountain was so that wishes could be granted. She could have given him his wish without jumping.

I guess I'm a sucker for a happy ending. It would have been nice if somebody had made out OK. As it turned out, the people left living were left feeling pretty damn miserable.

But the movie was a thing of beauty, deeply moving at times, humorous at other times. I liked how most of the characters had an air of unflappable dignity about them.

After sleeping on it, I realize the movie had to end the way it did. In a society so bound by honor I guess she had little choice.

I thought the actress who played the older warrior was exquisite. She communicated a lot with just a subtle change in facial expression.
