An issue that I'd like to see discussed here is the psychology of "going short". I've noticed that for some people, especially those who trade commodities or currencies, it's no big deal to simply reverse positions. To others it seems to be a very big emotional deal..either fr or agin it. Others prefer to be long or short generally, though will go the other way as they see fit. to still others going short is simply out of the range of possibilities.
Last week, when the market started going down, i suddenly thought "why don't I paper trade shorting?" I did, with satisfying results. In order to do this, i just changed my perspective. But next day the thought left totally.
A long time ago, before i had heard the words "short squeeze" i read a book by Harry Schultz about surviving bear markets. One sentence stuck in my mind. "pick a stock to short that has the least short interest."
Is that a viable concept?
At this time the ability to go short effortlessly appears to be necessary. Is there a way of creating a mind set to facilitate this in people who are chronic "longs"? Whenever anyone has time, I'd appreciate hearing your opinions and experiences.

Just some random thoughts on a day when everyone is doing something else, and I'm about to do the same.
