HTP General Information: Thanks to all who have migrated here for making us the #1 Hot Topic. I only have two things to say: 1) Moderating. I don't plan on doing a lot of moderating, in fact, I'll be positively Jeffersonian about it: that which governs least, governs best. The thread is open to one and all to discuss anything of investment or even entertainment interest. Most of us "know" each other from other venues, and know what works and what gums up the works. Having started the thread, I hold the key, but won't exercise any future exclusions without strong and repeated requests from posters. So, feel free to let fly with ideas and questions. 2) Quantity vs quality. I was serious when I said I hoped we could move off the Hot Topics radar screen, as few of us have the time and interest to read 500 posts a week. With that in mind, let's try to make our bandwidth precious and keep nonsubstantive posting to a relative minimum. If you agree absolutely with a poster or a series of posts, feel free to use the p.m. function. On the other hand, the board is open (see #1), and the occasional post about vintage port, politics or whatever, won't violate any standards any of the founders contemplated or are contemplating. Finally, the vigor of the thread will depend on who is here helping us all to think through various ideas, etc. Please invite cyber-beings you meet elsewhere on SI to become regular lurkers/posters here. Although we have spent a good part of our first week discussing tech, most of us come here from profitable engagements in the oil patch. Fwiw, I have to feel that the really great, easy money in energy has already been made, although there are significant chunks of change to be harvested either through trading or patience. But the days of buying PTEN at 2 7/8 and selling it for 39 some 18 months later in the patch are gone, for now. I'd personally be very interested in someone, anyone picking out another cyclical or growth area in which to make 500-800% returns. I imagine there are some other posters and lurkers here who share that interest. Once again, thank you all for coming to the HTP party. I promise to run a clean thread and hope you all will feel at home here. Kb
