because he just does

Well, I appreciate that, Karen. However, I don't know what "just does" means exactly. And I hope you will forgive my curiosity. I don't believe passionate motive springs from a "just does", and I would just as soon exercise that old adult option of just asking. Perhaps I am just tired or just burnt out.

Now, I do not believe a person should be held forever to the limitations of an old remark about not changing their mind. The offer to re-think ones position is not invasive, especially when it is unclear whether the position has been thought in the first place.

If you wish to characterize it as a challenge, then please accept that I can characterise your post in the same way; And I consider a challenge as an opportunity to grow, and an invitation to move ahead.

I already made it clear that my invitation to clarify his position was based on a moral desire to avoid "misunderstanding you" (him).

However, I do wish to be fair. If he tells me that he just does believe that, and that there just is no reason for it--I will be considerate enough to forego any discussion with him on this matter, or upon any other.

Perhaps if we look at the " act " of conception ...
as where life really begins .

Creating life is just that , an an act of creating .

... life really begins as conscious
(sacred) decision, made by two mature ,
sentient & aware ,deeply
dedicated adults ....hopefully with a
little joy and comprehension in their
own lives to begin with.

Discussing whether life begins
2 minutes after fertilization or 2 months ...
isn't it rather a little too late in the
game to be discussing a
child's present & future potential to be
bonded to anyone or to be taught ?

Far too many children having children.
and not every child a wanted child ...

is the beginning of a truely sad story .
And it is a desperate ,horrifying & terribly lonely existence most
of these children will face
throughout their lives.

The issue of contraception
vs non-contraception ?
A woman's rights to protect herself against pregnancy ?
The stand against this is one of the biggest farces of
the 20th century .

It is no wonder
the Church has seen it's number of applications
to the priesthood dwindle by almost 5 fold over
the past 40 years in America.

It's called "desperation" and being "clueless"...and a
last ditch effort to appear " Holy ", unique
and a relevant authority in the
modern world .

** just a small rant.....

;-)
