it is available for investment. it is absurd to leave lots of money in money markets for a long time. better to have in stock, bond, cd or whatever. money market is for temporary funds. historically, it pays less over time. money in money market can potentially go into stocks. if it weren't in money market, there wouldn't be chance for money from money market to go into stocks. if there is $1 trillion dollars in money market, there is $1/2 trillion dollars more money from money market to go into stocks than if there is $1/2 trillion dollars in money market.
