Actually, Sullivan has not changed his views. He made The New Republic more moderate and greatly increased its influence and circulation.

Remember, he took a great deal of heat by agreeing with Charles Murray and The Bell Curve. Many of the ideological Left dropped their subscriptions when Sullivan did that.
