I doubt this thread will disappear and I agree with you that the hook of the drilling and services sector will/should continue to lure attention. What seemed to happen here was a lot more than a case of I'm right, you're wrong. There have always been conflicts in the past, so no one should be surprised when these things occur. When the conflicts are based on points of view with the intention of helping, persuading or teaching others, then there are benefits to most everyone who reads the thread. When the conflicts are based upon putting the other person down for their views, then the conflicts add little to the common knowledge of those reading. If you want this type of entertainment, just turn on some afternoon talk show. I, for one, didn't mind being on 'wrong side' if I learned from the conflict. I did (and do) mind being involved in a useless mudslinging contest....what a waste of time and bandwidth.

jmo,
Michael

Agree 100%, that's what we'll see.

Those who return, realizing they made a mistake, will probably resume posting a variety of viewpoints which I've always been in favor of here. When your opinion or mine doesn't pump their long positions or even offers a contrarian market view which puts such positions in doubt they will either discuss the issue in a mature manner or at worst not respond at all vs the bash and attack tactics we saw for months from a group of perma bulls until the thread descended into an endless food fight.

Only question is how to treat the intolerant cheap shot artists, some of whom will inevitably return trying to play the same failed game that forced them to leave this time? Should be interesting(g).

In the meantime, look forward to doing what I can to help rebuild the thread into a more balanced and diverse venue where people who are bears as well as bulls, TA as well as FA users, exchange pros as well as industry veterans can help each other assemble the pieces of this puzzle we call investment success.

Best

Iso

Tommy

Have you any idea how many formerly active SI threads have withered and died? These threads are about people and not topics or titles. Most of the people who made real contributions (I'm not one of them) are gone. What do you have left? Your "leader" is someone who takes not one ounce of responsibility for the poisonous atmosphere created by him and his now-banned padrone. So now Sancho Panza will carry on alone without his Don Quixote tilting at windmills? Star material? I think not. Strictly a loudmouthed sidekick. Think Walter Brennan. I don't know for certain that Slider has been banned. Maybe just carted off to the loony bin.

You say "once bitten by the "oilbidness" one is hooked forever". Are you sure you are not hooked by the fact that O&G has been a great investment sector in recent years rather than the lousy investment sector it has been for most of the last two decades? Those of us who remember 1998 have a different definition of "hooked" on oil. Good luck to you but the "other" thread might give you better information about both O&G and other investment possibilities because it is all about people and restricted to grown-ups.

Hey, you will always have Post Patrol and his stunning insights. We won't.
