I can't help but to suspect that SSB has an agenda here...Could it be that they don't want the sector to turn around (stock price wise) for another few months so that their clients who shorted will be able to qualify for long term capital gains? The monday IBD shows that most stocks in this sector are under "A" or "B" accumulation mode....
Why would someone routinely and repeatedly badmouth the sector? What I find interesting about jj's "calls" is that he doesn't identify any specific "source" for his comments. He refers to "senior management" and that's it. I think INTC, among other companies, takes the FD rule very seriously so I doubt jj has the "ear" of anyone in management.
