I post and expect to receive flak in return. If I needed to have verification for my opinions, I'd go over to the Left Wing Porch thread. But I hang out over here because I've gotten to know some of the people a little bit, and some I actually enjoy talking to. Having said that, let me explain the term "right-wing bashers" in his context: For the past eight months or so, I have frequented a couple of the SI political boards ... this one and the GWB board. One thing has marked the vast majority of the posts from the right on both boards: bashing. Clinton, of course, was and is the main bashing target. Gore was right up there during the election, but one doesn't read many attacks against him these days. Hillary and Jesse Jackson probably run 2-3 now. And then there's the union-bashing, minority-bashing, and some occasional female-bashing. I admit that I also have bashed. I have nothing good to say, for instance, about Rep. Dan Burton of Indiana, the deadbeat dad who abandoned a child he fathered, yet has taken on the role of moral inquisitor of the Clintons. I have no use for hypocrites of his ilk. What's often missing on these boards is even the appearance of an intelligent discussion of the issues. For instance, some people poked much fun at Gephardt and Daschle for their Lexus-Midas muffler dog and pony show a few weeks ago, but I didn't see much intelligent discussion as to why middle-class Republicans ought to support GWB's tax cut for the wealthiest of the wealthy. That's just one example. I guess it's just more fun to bash than to try to dissect the issues. Same reason that lots of people tune in to AM radio every day for their "Rush fix."
