Jacob, >I see a U-shaped downturn< you talking about orders? If you are, I see a V based on the fact that since Jan 1995 all order bottoms have been V.

Jacob, don't you run the risk of a potential future mistake by relying on AMAT's most recent performance as an indication of the potential for the next run up? In the past five to six years the large caps have dominated the Nasdaq but may now have begun to reverse that cycle for an undetermined number of years because of valuation excesses. Witness the performance of NVLS versus AMAT since the 1998 bottom as an example where NVLS isn't even in the top ten equipment companies worldwide but has performed almost fifty per cent better.

"This time, I hold everything at least till I have long-term cap gains. I'm thiking around 100 as a
target price.

Be careful with this Jacob...neither LEAP options nor short sales can qualify for capital gains...if you got away with it once it doesn't mean it was legal, it just means you didn't get caught! Even if you exercise a LEAP, you must hold the stock one year from the date of option exercise (not option purchase) to qualify for capital gains...at least that's my understanding.
