Hi there! Glad to see you found your way here. Hope everything is ok with you and your family.

As for the mailbox, sounds like all's well that ends well but I'll bet whoever ran into your mailbox got the worst of the encounter, which should be some satisfaction.

<<A couple of Saturdays ago someone ran into and knocked down our mailbox. Big deal, right? Except our mailbox is one of those brick jobs that is set into concrete. >>

In '94 I was at the hunting club and my wife called and said our mailbox which was on a 4x6 had been broken off. It was not only broken off but the really nice big tree with the oriole nest was gone. A neighbor said a county loader was used to load the firewood sized pieces into a county truck. Called the county and nope it wasn't them. I also lost a headlight bezel to a hen pheasant while hurrying home. At least the pheasant tasted good.

...hit and run...

I had a neighbour who drove a truck. A big truck! The kind that pulls a trailer. This thing had more wheels than I could count. He parked it on the street when he made quick visits home.

One day, a car hit his truck. He had a home-made bumper on it made from half-inch steel supported by six-inch "I" beams. The welding looked solid. Anyway, the car twisted that bumper and support like a pretzel. There was blue sheet metal all over the street, (His truck was red) broken glass, chrome parts, a baseball cap, some rubber chunks, and a Big Mac styrofoam container, but no car. It was hit and run. It puzzled everyone how the car ran after that hit.

Cheers, PW.

P.S. The car was never found.
