That is the way many are in Europe... no accountability, etc. Look, many industries are such that needed economies of scale would make these companies HUGE [like they are now]... do realize how narrow the wealth in this country would be without publicly owned shares??? It would make todays situation look aweful good.

My pet idea is that the double taxation on dividends should be abolished. This would encourage companies to pay dividends and investors to buy profitable companies. All the hype about future earnings potential would be avoided as investors would focus more on the present reality.
