Slacker; I rather agree with you that IJ's statements sound more like opinion than fact but with a mitigating opinion of my own. Dr. Jacobs has said many things over the years I've paid close attention to him and though we repeatedly questioned most of them, most have come true. Examples which come to mind are all the questions about whether Q would get significant royalties and licensees for W-CDMA and the importance of HDR vs. 5mhz CDMA. I believed his is a very informed position.

Of course I am bothered by Ollila's direct refutation as I have never found him to be hyperbolic in his statements either. And now Docomo also says they will make their timeline even if the rollout will not become very broad for a while.

My view continues to be swayed primarily by Jacobs' statements realizing that he was probably trying to take advantage of a sales opportunity in Europe.

Anxious for news of the meeting and if they don't hurry up and start, I may have to go over to the (gasp) 500 thread for a fix. Rocket Scientist did post a couple of observations from inside the meeting over on the GSTRF thread in case you missed them, but only relative to that company's prospects.

Slacker,

<< I am sure that others will disagree...but I was not at all impressed by the reasons that IJ sited for the comments made last week. >>

I am absolutely irate about Dr. Jacob's comments.

FUD

The market reacted in appropriate manner to his comments.
