And I think it is much too important for business to take on. Business doesn't care about quality. The bottom line, as we are repeatedly told, is profits. Does this give us the best? No. This gives us crap like windows. I am not sure you really know what socialism means: so·cial·ism (ssh-lzm) n. 1. a.A social system in which the means of producing and distributing goods are owned collectively and political power is exercised by the whole community. b.The theory or practice of those who support such a social system. 2.The building of the material base for communism under the dictatorship of the proletariat in Marxist-Leninist theory. A democracy can educate it's children, and still not be socialist. Unless you consider children or education to be goods. I think they are a great deal more than that. Children are like our national parks- they are a treasure for the future, as well as the present. They are far too important to be left to the shortsighted machinery of market forces. I wouldn't put the Washington Monument up for sale to the Japanese, and I don't think our kids should be up for sale to the highest bidder either. And that is not socialist under any normal definition of socialism. I don't have a problem with Socialism, but I wanted to correct your fuzzy thinking and incorrect statement. Too often people get by with saying way our factually incorrect stuff like you just said and no one calls them on it.
