Al,,,, Yikes!! Didn't know it was that bad for you, guy -- sorry. But be assured, you are not alone... I have relatives who put virtually all their available assets into the dot - coms... one owned nothing but "Munder Net Net" and lost over 90 percent by trading. I've had to make a couple of loans within family to prevent really severe damage. So don't feel tooo lonely.
The onset of this bear market was not foreseen by many, if any -- and I'd blame virtually all of it on a Fed on mission . I think Alan G. was displeased that nobody paid attention to his "irrational exhuberance" caveat and decided "I'll show them"....
Hope you can get an opportunity to make a little back on the bargains once we bottom out -- we just gotta find out where "bottom out" IS!! <gg>
good luck, guy...

Alan,

Sometimes I worry if making point-blank bearish comment on this board seems insensitive, but you know I haven't changed my spots since March and I feel it's more helpful for me to say what I honestly think, even if it isn't popular.

Still, no way are you alone so please don't put yourself down. You are an individual investor doing your best, and this has been a very difficult market......however, some of the professionals handling other people's money should be truly ashamed of themselves imo.

Look at Fidelity Magellan for example. The person running this fund should be noticed. There is absolutely no reason for this paid professional to have let the hard earned retirement/investment money of other people go down the drain in a losing streak all year. What the heck has he been doing all this time? Thank God he's not a heart surgeon!

And there are so many funds like this; to be sure some are even worse. No way you are alone, but there is no excuse for these professionals.

I hope you will have much better luck in the future, Al.
