The economist I had been thinking of is Robert Aumann. I don't see what's disingenuous about his manner. Maybe I didn't make it clear that he was talking about formal propositions of common knowledge, not informal personal epistemologies. Modern microecon rests upon the assumption of common knowledge, but few (if any) economists before Aumann formalized or asked interesting questions about the concept of common knowledge. Ok, there are people like David Lewis, but he's not an economist.

UW-M is a good school. I have some training from a school a bit to the southeast of Madison; I'm sure you can guess which, given that we're discussing the dismal science.

As for Mr Market, I'm not even noticing. Head buried in sand, or rather, in Santayana's Sense of Beauty. I do believe I am thusly maximizing my utility.
