Yes, Daschle did a very poor job last night during his co-hosted mini lie-a-thon. Like the rest of the US, South Dakotans overwhelmingly support Bush and his plan - the one he won election on. Gallup: 84% Say Bush Is Leading Country In Right Direction; 92% Approval On Speech

FoxNews just reported that polls show Daschle is also in danger of losing his seat in the next election. Bush won SD BIG TIME.

When are the Dems going to stop being the Party of "Reverse-Robin Hood" economics?

flap,

First, I am just joking with you regarding Ohio. I have been all over it, and too many times. The reason for this is simple. There are lots of successful companies with excellent products in Ohio, and of course I want their business. I just don't mention that I am a U of M fan -g-

I actually enjoyed a Hepburn/Tracy relationship with a TRW buyer from Ohio. She was transplanted to one of their Michigan divisions and we enjoyed many a good spat.

As for the Mac, I say use what you like and what works for you. It is sort of the box prefered by liberals, and that is why I had to tease you a bit.

I have spent considerable time in all the major Ohio cities except Cleveland. I have only just passed through there, but do a lot of business on the south side of the city. Some Sunday I plan to worship there; in the Rock Hall of Fame -g-

I ask you this question, and I did steal this from Rush today. If there was a need for the community to chip in money to help rebuild after a tornado. Everyone chipped in to help and after the rebuild was complete it was discovered it only cost half as much as originally planned. The city wants to refund the leftover money. Mr A gave 500 and Mr B gave 5. Don't you think that Mr. A should get 250 and Mr. B 2.50? I am not in the richest 1 percent, still I think they pay enough.

What does the W have to do with the Stock market? I don't quite follow you here. Greenspan was pretty clear today that the slowdown started at the mid-point of 2000. That seemed to be on Clinton's watch. The problems we have today have ZERO to do with W. Actually a tax-cut can have a similar effect on the economy as a rate reduction, but of course there is much to debate regarding this. My kingdom for a one-handed economist has always been one of my favorite quotes.

I don't think the rest of the country agrees with your assessment of Daschle and Gephardt's performance. Flap, when my dudes stumble I'll still back em, but I won't put em in pearls. Daschle and Gephardt were struggling to find a new angle. Trouble was, they had 1988s playbook. W has learned all those plays, and the best play is the one where he "lets" the Dems think he doesn't even know what a play is. That is becoming my favorite, and he does it so well that he has fooled a couple of his own kind. Watch, and later you will go, ahhh. You don't have to trust me on this, as I believe your team will realize during the off-season; when they are getting ready for the first big game of the next season.

I am not going to defend Rush. He can do that all by himself. I just think you are lumping him in because its easy to do. If you really listened to him, then you would realize that his "bashing" is no different from anything the other side does. You need to step back on this point. I am starting to believe that having a firm conviction about something equates to "bashing" in your book.

I would like you to define what you mean by "bashing". I am serious, I want to see if we have the same reference.

HAGO

UPPER-INCOME TAXPAYERS pay a larger chunk of the nation's
income taxes.

The top 1% paid about 35% of all federal personal-income taxes for
1998, up from 33% the previous year and 29% for 1993, according to
new IRS statistics posted on the Web site of Congress's Joint
Economic
Committee (www.house.gov/jec/). The report also shows the top 1%
earned about 18% of adjusted gross income for 1998, up from about
17%
the prior year. For 1998, the bottom half of taxpayers paid 4% of
the
income-tax tab, about the same as each of the past few years. These

numbers don't include Social Security and Medicare taxes.

To rank in the top 1%, you had to report adjusted gross income of
$269,496 or more for 1998. To rank in the top 5%, your income had
to
be at least $114,729. This group paid about 54% of total
personal-income
taxes. To rank in the top 10%, your income had to be at least
$83,220.
For the top 50%, your income had to be at least $25,491. The IRS
data
was requested by Rep. Jim Saxton, the Joint Economic Committee's
vice
chairman.
///////////
Tax
returns for vice-presidential nominee Dick Cheney and his wife,
Lynne,
show that their 1999 federal income taxes of about $1.7 million
represented about 39% of their adjusted gross income of $4.4
million.
