<<I never shop at Neimans.>>

III knew a guy who bought just enough to get the catalogue. Back in 19 and 78 he was flashing his card and I remembered his number. I ordered him the Cadillac pick up truck. He thought it was a joke until the numbers sounded right. That prompted another call to Neimans.

Hi,

I'm just a few years younger, but remember very well being dressed in floral prints with triple-layered horse hair (itchy!) skirts underneath and --yes-- wee white cotton gloves with mother-of-pearl buttons.

It was a major step for me, as teen in the late sixties, to go slip-less. God forbid someone should see the outline of my two thighs underneath my very proper mini-dress. I just didn't get it.

I forgot to tell you that your description of that very dear magazine has inspired me. I'm having a dinner party on Friday and have decided to to a retro seventies theme: beef fondue, cauliflower with cheese sauce, and my grandmother's white cake with homemade marshmallow frosting with toasted coconut. I'm going to ply people with bourbon and gimlets before dinner.
