Most ticks don't carry anything. I've had 100s. I did have a neighbor who got Rocky Mountain Spotted fever from one.

I did find a coon hound acting nuts at Timms Ford Tenn. They were gonna shoot that dog but I gave him my goose sandwich. He was owned by a guy at Jack Daniels and had been on the run. Ticks in the ears. I was gonna return him but a state guy said he would. I watched ticks dropping off that dog like snow when he was in the car.

I am now reminded that my brother got a tick on him when he was quite young... perhaps 8?

He took quite a fit when he saw it. My mother held a burning match near it to make it let go.

Poor kid always seemed to be getting picked on by bugs and creepy crawly things.

I remember being down at the river swimming with some friends, when all at once, my brother started screaming that there was a leech stuck to his leg...

What a commotion!! You'd think it was a lamprey eel and not just a 2 inch long leech...

He also received an inordinate number of bee and wasp stings too... despite being told to stay still and ignore the insects and they would go away...

It was uncanny. Anyone else, and they would fly away. When it came to my brother, the insects would sting rather mercilessly...

My brother was always rather nervous around many kinds of creatures, and I think they sensed that....

Myself...well... I was always getting bitten by garter snakes, snapping turtles or crayfish, just because I couldn't leave anything alone and had to try to make pets out of everything from caterpillars to crows... Didn't matter... everything was a potential buddy...

Strange how different 2 kids in the same family can be...

Screw ticks. What I hate are chiggers.
