not other than maybe instant messaging but WAP may not be needed for that I am not sure. There could be other uses though, I just can't think of them.


Well since the original design of a cell phone was for "instant" voice calls, I doubt typing instant meesages would be a plus LOL. "Hello how are you" might work as well and the price would be the same.
