Broadcom's big interest is in DSL. There's a huge market out there - it has just begun.
Yup, Northpoint just went BK in January, delisted last month. Covad in disarray. The ILEC rate of sale on xDSL half of projections as of 1/00. As you say 'it has just begun' - to be apparent that the CLECs are dying and ILECs intend to milk their T-1, T-3 cash cows for as long as possible. IMVHO, ADSL will suffer the same fate as ISDN in the US. A great technological advance that never builds critical mass because of decisions made in the boardrooms of the largest telecom players.

In favor of your position, some to the DSL crowd went to the FRB with a begging cup this week (though they deny this is the intent, more of a primer for the bankers they claim <w>), maybe some good will come of this:

Great point Jack !!!
<<Broadcom's big interest is in DSL>>

Them and about 1000 other companies = commodity chip biz.
See the video, cellphone, and DVD chip biz cycles for history on how that pans out.

Next on the plate folks is the STB chip dog and cat fight.
Just as volumes ramp...ASP's drop like broad.com's stock price has.

Survey says......@#$%@$%!@#$%!@#$!@#$!!!

Now go look up "DENIAL".
I'm amazed at the amount of people still
trying to grasp at strings here.
