OT - Mike, Once our public gets an economic education there won't much purpose for democrats any longer. The public will know that a good economy does more for the poor than government even claims it can do and they will know that a small federal government makes the economy function better. They will know that each person having more dollars to allocate as he or she sees fit is more important to their well being than any other freedom.

Think about this - If all of our freedoms were taken away but the economic ones what would we need of the rest? I am guessing this explains why Singapore is full of happy people under a fairly oppressive regime to our way of thinking. What do they care that they can't criticize the government so long as they have their economic freedoms? This may also explain why fewer people vote when the economy is good.

OT*** reactionaries**how the democrats have become today's reactionaries.

I'm getting worried about you Michael97123, first the republican governor thing and now this . You just gotta get off that Fruit Loop Diet. Its messing up your thinking.

it's a wonder to me that the dems cant t articulate that as their position.

The democratic position will be articulated with a strong no vote when Mr Bush tries to get house and senate approval for his poorly thought out tax cuts and other balderdash schemes.

Its the week end so I guess some political banter is acceptable.

Jerome

Mike,

First, when we actually enter a recession, the surplus wil likelyl be severely diminished or completely gone.

Second, paying down the surplus is a means of returning cash to the private sector to be used in private investment or consumption.

Third, the democrats have a tax cut plan and interest in cuts if appropriate, but tax relief for the rich is not their overriding concern. It might be, if the rich bought them the presidency when they ran an obvious incompetent.
