I used to have a generator but got rid of it. Where I live, we have fewer power outages than they have in town.

It probably doesn't hurt that I'm on the same transmission line as the president and one of the directors of the power co-op. Add to that the city engineer lives two doors down the road so if the snow is too heavy for the township trucks to handle the city sends trucks out here.

Back in '79 we had a huge blizzard and the winds kept blowing the snow for several days. One large outlying development was snowed in for 5 days and on the 2nd day a snowmobile took out a pole on their power line. 5 days they couldn't leave their homes and the last 3 without power. Being on wells they lost not only their heat but also water. The following spring there were a lot of for sale signs in the yards.
