I am a radical environmentalist and I know given the world's growing population the cost of feeding everyone a proper diet [ including meat ] is hard on the environment.

But long ago I decided that I'd be damned if I would eat what I consider an unnatural and unhealthy diet so the woman down the street could have a fifth child.

The fossil record is quite clear. We is predators and have been so for some time. Evolution has determined our optimum diet for us.

a) we could probably agree that meat production in the western world or produced using western methodology is harmful to world environment

b) possibly agree that western affluent society eats more meat than 'fossil record' suggests we ever had before or might require, which of course had made (a) an increasingly bigger problem
