You certainly have a different take on the case than has been reported in the papers. It became a cause celebre because the Judge took the child, who is black, away from the foster parents, who are white, in part BECAUSE the child was black, and the Judge thought it was in the best interests of the child to be raised among other black people so the child would retain his identity. I was very surprised to see that the kid got taken away from Mom and given back to the foster parents. She blew it by testing positive for cocaine and not abiding by the rules. The black woman judge is not prejudiced against the black mother, it's plain.

I know it's been turned into another big political football, like Elian Gonzales - people see in it whatever their preconcieved notions allow them to see. I don't know enough about the case to have an opinion except to observe that these are always tough cases, but the woman did have legal counsel, and didn't have to take on the power structure all alone.
