I take humane in a broader sense: X started this part of the discussion and I knew what she meant. Also, we had been having a discussion--mainly between Cosmic and Tim, I think--about whether it was moral to kill a badly wounded soldier in the field if there was nothing you could do to help him, he couldn't last long without help, and he begged you to end his considerable suffering. So I had that context in mind when I responded. Your response, though, still makes me think that we have very different circles of friends. Karen
