I have no idea where you got that notion. This is not the first time we have argued about this. I have said that I would support leniency in the first trimester. As far as I am concerned, you are simply ignoring my points in order to reiterate your own. Kill the embryo because it is not developed enough to suit you, then kill the infant because it lacks a fully formed adult brain and endocrine system; then kill the retarded because they are not smart enough; then kill the blind and halt because they are defective. Don't laugh at the slippery slope: when R v W first came out, substantial latitude remained to regulate abortion after the first trimester. Nowadays, in most states, it is "anything goes". Women are aborting for sex selection (ironically, usually preferring males). Women are aborting as a form of birth control, because it is not romantic to have to stop and use a diaphragm. If they do not want to have a child, let them use birth control faithfully, or let them abstain from coitus. Otherwise, let them take responsibility. I am not averse to using the power of the government to force an American citizen to face the consequences of her actions, no. (Rape and incest are reasonable exceptions to a pro- life regime). But when the practice that would allow her to skate is a form of homicide, and when permitting it degrades our regard for human life and commitment to protect the weak, there should be some sanction against it....
