Eric L: Re:<<< My daughter has been using the 5185i for the last few weeks. I used it extensively last week. Let me assure you, Nokia is delivering a high "vuality" tri-mode CDMA product, using a chip of their design. Darned high quality. judging from the low return rate, and my use under a variety of conditions. My wife wants one but she is going to inherit the CDM9000 (maybe <g>) when I take delivery of the new Kyocera 6035, which I am delighted to see is due in Verizon's shops shortly.>>>

Hey, how about treating your daughter and your wife to the same fine phone you are about to use? <g>

Verizon has a family plan, no?

Best as always.

Eric. I do enjoy your contributions. You have clearified much of your original post for me. I do care what others on the thread think of me -- although I do use this NOK thread to blow off some steam.

I remain confused about part of your answer:
""<< You argue against comparing peak data rates when you surely must know that there is no other possible standard of
comparison at this point. >>

There most certainly is. Peak data rates can be translated into practical and typical user rates, even if theoretical, under
various conditions and for various applications.""

Is there an international standard for determining these real life data rates, or would each manufacturer determine his own based on the "honor system". If the answer is the later case, do you think all of the manufacturers would interpret the honor system in approximately the same way? It seems to me that some of them are prone to exagerate.

I am interested in your experience with the KYO Smartphone.
Best Regards,
