I get your point, but when you said "seemingly universally held opinion among conservatives" I could not tell you were talking about only ONE conservative. I responded to your generalization that it was universal and did not see that you were really responding to one specific poster.

My recent experience suggests the dems badmouth the well to do far more than the repubs badmouth the poor. That was my point. I agree with you that there are a portion of the poor that are not capable coping. If they are not mentally or physically handicapped then I say that you reap what you sew. The dems seem to feel that they are owed something, and that it is us pesky repups that are keeping them down. Very divisive imo.

You are absolutely right! LOL!

What I can't ignore is the seemingly universally held opinion among
conservatives that people on welfare are lazy cheats sucking the rest of us dry.
