Ted re <<There are the cool kids and the jocks and their groups, and then there are the lesser kids who are the geeks and may or may not have friends. And they can be embarrassed and harassed unmercifully. I know because some of my high school fraternity bros. were the perpeptrators. Do those guys who do the harassing deserve to die for their crime...no, of course not. But this BS should not be permitted at all. However, too many teachers and too many parents turn their back on the problem.>>

Extremely well said!! Kids should not be allowed to isolate the other kid that goes through puberty later in life, or one that is shy, or has red hair etc...Individuality is very important, but I am a big fan of school uniform and overall discipline. If you pick on someone based on his race, the kid is in major trouble as he/she should be. But if you pick on them because they are small or different, then no big deal.

Re << And thats why there is incredible dislike for the NRA...the power they wield....but the neo-nazis of this country continue to provide them the funding that allows them to be a huge lobby in DC.>>

I am a paying member of the NRA and I am sure not a "neo-nazis", I don't think you should use the word loosely. I simply have a strong belief that the right to defend myself and not having to depend on someone else is as fundamental as civil rights. My heart goes out to the two mothers and fathers who will not have their beloved child with them tonight, but my conviction about the right to bear arm remains unchanged.

Ted, I've heard all of the arguments for and against gun control. Personally, I'm for it. But I doubt more laws are going to keep the guns out of the hands of troubled teens, unless we repeal the 2nd Amendment and resort to a complete prohibition on guns. And that will not go over very well in our culture.

But what is an example of this country's moral decay that you mention is the unwillingness to deal with the growing number of guns in this country and the growing ease with which kids can get their hands on these weapons.

There are more guns then in the recent past, but guns have been widely available in the US for a long time.

And thats why there is incredible dislike for the NRA...the power they wield...

The power they wield is not all that great, or more accurately they are strong but they have strong forces against them as well. If they were that powerful they would have been able to stop laws that ban guns for cosmetic reasons rather then the guns being any true danger ("assault weapons" ban), or keep guns from being so regulated that they are close to being banned in DC and NYC.

but the neo-nazis of this country continue to provide them the funding that allows them to be a huge lobby in DC.

Its nice to know that you consider me a neo-nazi. Actually the nazi's supported gun control, but don't let inconvient facts get in the way of a chance to bash your opponents.
