"...These kids don't. I think we have to find out WHY they don't."

The answer is simple.....these kids have no respect for authority.

And why don't they have any respect for authority?

Another easy question. Our society has removed PUNISHMENT as a form of discipline. Today's kids have nothing to fear. Once again, our sociologist flunkies have determined that punishment is cruel and can result in severe ramifications.

Does anyone remember the American kid who sprayed graffiti in Singapore? Remember the outrage in America when the young man was to be flogged with a bamboo cane as punishment for his crime? I'll bet with anyone here that he hasn't sprayed graffiti on anymore walls.

On a more personal note, an 84 year old man, owner of the pool hall where I hanged around as a kid was savagely beaten by a 17 year boy with a billiard ball. The old man suffered broken nose and several other fractures on the front of his face. It was pitiful to see him with all the bruises which literally covered his whole face. The reason for the attack was simply because the old man refused to let boy's dog in the bar.

The boy, who lives a couple of houses away from the bar, was arrested and released within a couple of hours. The old man is still at the hospital. UNBELIEVABLE!

When I became a Boy Scout the biggest badge was being able to acquire the BSA pocket knife. Every boy I knew had one and carried it proudly. We would all be expelled today for carrying a weapon. Never heard of one being used even though there were many scuffles and fights.

Just about every car in our parking lot had guns in them. We all went hunting after school. Brought our 22's to school and kept them in our locker so that we could take our hunter safety course in the gym after school. Never heard about a gun being used for anything other then hunting.

We had a bit of fear in those days. Fear of our God, fear of our parents, teachers, and any other adult authority figure. Seems the adults of the world were more concerned in us making civilized choices then they were in building up our self esteem. You knew when you did something wrong that there would be a consequence.

Today much of that does not seem true anymore IMO..
