"are you concerned that I, your neighbor, will inevitably do you wrong unless I download the software?"

I am not in the least bit worried about you doing me wrong Karen. You seem like most of the people here, to be a very nice person. My point was that you already have the software, (Innate moral notions) not that you must acquire it/them, so you can be like me. The question is where do these come from, and what conclusions do you come to about the nature and purpose of existence. Existentialism starts with the premiss that there is no God and therefore no ultimate purpose to life, other than that which we ascribe to it.(sound familiar?) Most of the truly great and consistent thinkers who have started from that point have ended their journey in despair. Only by pretending that there is meaning and purpose to this life can one escape this angst. The problem is, that one knows they are living a lie, and that tends to produce even more angst. We go through life like the people in the waiting room where Jack Nicholson walks through and he stops and says "what if this is as good as it gets?"

I am concerned for peoples Souls, yours included. That seems to make me some sort of monster around here. So be it.
