Here is the thing I don't understand:
1) Everybody knows we are in bad earnings environment.
2) Therefore, the intelligent CEOs warn really super low.
3) Then you do not have to warn anymore.
4) You also have some upside "good news" to give later on.
5) So why didn't JDSU do that?
6) Because of image? Too concerned about looking like the jaunty CEO with the beret who doesn't have a care in the world?

Look at TQNT. They just warned by taking a $0.29 estimate down to $0.14 for the next three quarters running. That's almost 50% cut in estimates! Result? The stock went up by a point and they are now in a great position for strong upside surprises.

Can somebody tell me why we didn't chop estimates by 75% when we had the cover of the NT warning?

Never mind.......the answer is in the leadership.
