Stribe30 Re..Two wrongs dont make a right of course.. just puts things into perspective that Republican Presidents are as likely as Democrat ones to do a few.. questionable controversial things.<<<<<<<<<

What is questionable about this pardon? The guy didn't flee the country? He went to court, he did his time and he paid his fine. In addition his pardon was cleared by the justice dept. Rich did none of the above. Where is the connection. Aren't you Bill defenders getting a little ridiculous, trying to justify Bills actions based upon everyone else. Read the following paragraphs. You will notice the library contributions were made after the pardon, and that the guy did go to court, did his time, paid his dues first. Also his pardon was cleared through the justice dept. This is precisely what is supposed to happen before a pardon is granted.

Time magazine reports that while the
Justice Department vetted the Cox pardon
application, an official with the former
Bush administration said it was rushed through at the last minute.

Gray told Time that he did not see any problem with Cox's
contribution to the library because it was made after the pardon.
Time also reports that no one politically linked to Bush is known to
have been paid to pursue the Cox clemency.

"What's semi-toxic for Clinton was raising money for the library
while he was still in office and letting people know, by the way,
we're open for pardons, too," Gray told Time. "We never solicited
Mr. Cox's application."

Another difference between the Cox and Rich cases is that while
Rich fled the country and was never prosecuted for the crimes of
which he was accused, Cox admitted making false statements
about collateral to back his loans, and served time in prison and
paid fines for his crimes.

Former President Bush granted last-minute pardon to contributor's son

Scott,

The Republicans are making a big brouhaha out of Clinton's pardons not because they think he did something so out of the ordinary nor do they care. The reason for it is to take the American mind off the election that they stole and the incredibly incompetent president they have installed with the aid of the Supreme Ct.

Its a bunch of bull but you know how karma works....this will come around and kick them in the butt....probably right before they lose the election for a second time in 2004.

As I have said before, we are seeing the parabolic top of the Republican party and I expect that within 10-20 years they will be fading from the political scene.
